How to Decorate Your Blog

Hello again!  Let's start where we left off last time.  We were at Post Dividers!  To set up your favorite Post Divider just go to Design and go into the button marked Post Dividers.  Once in pick the one that matches your blog and strikes your eye.  Once you've found the perfect Post Divider press the download button beside it.  If you didn't already know this Post Dividers go into those pages where if you want to put lots of posts you have to just edit that page.  This goes in the middle of each post, so everything won't get so crowded.  Now all you have to do is start edit a post on one of your pages and press the image icon and find the Post Divider you fell in love with and put it in.  Make sure the Post Divider is extra large.  Then just put your post above it.  The next buttons just take you to new things!  Now that you know how to use all of Shabby's amazing things you can put them on your own blog!  On their blog they have been putting new things up lately.  Then I've found more fun websites with free awesome things!  This next one is called http://sweetlyscrappedart.blogspot.com/.  It's a very cute site!  The first thing I fell in love with were the arrow clip arts!  To use them I made a photo.  I went to PicMonkey and started making a collage I put the arrow in a corner pointing up at a picture of my dog, Annie, picking berries.  This was decently easy. Wait, that's not the only new website with totally awesome things!   I also found http://www.freeprettythingsforyou.com/.  This website is run by a person who also works at shabbyblogs!  Their last post were some buttons which are very cute!  Back to http://sweetlyscrappedart.blogspot.com/ which is probably my favorite out of all the sites!  They also have some St. Patrick's online clip- arts on there right now.  I think I'll have to pick one up when it's St. Patrick's Day.  They even have business cards!  I'm just going to make one for no reason.  They also have the cutest tags for gifts ever!  I have to remember this for Birthdays.  There are amazingly cute envelopes as well.  I can't wait to give these to people.  Maybe  I'll make a random card day and give cards to random people!  This website even has some cute little note paper templates that are fancy!  Fancy note day is officially tomorrow.  Here that folks?  Tomorrow if you're reading this give a random note to someone!  Yay, I feel so happy.  Someday random note day will be everywhere.  They also have some free spring printables!  This website is going to be my magnet.  You don't know how excited I am right now.  There's so many things I can use for my journal!  Even though I'm blabbing on about stuff that doesn't include blogs.  All of these things can go on the blog.  Just a few edits here and there and you're good!  That's enough for today!  Bye!

Hey, I'm back!  Now I'm going to tell you how to apply Shabby Headers!   Firstly get to the website and press Shabby Headers.  Okay, now, choose the header you absolutely adore and press download!  Then in design at your blog go to layout. Once in layout find the box that says header, select edit.  If you don't know what a header is I will tell you; a header is where the title of your blog is.  Once in the headers box, go down to where it says image; it will also say download, press download.  Find the image you just downloaded at the shabby site and wallah, your blog has a header!  Next, Post Pretties!  Pick your favorite Post Pretty and press the download button.  If you want to put writing on them you will first have to edit them; if your Post Pretty is already perfect then just skip the first few steps.  I would recommend Picmonkey for editing; to use it first press the Edit a Picture button.  Find your Post Pretty and press Open.  On the left hand side there are different editing tools, choose the P; find the font you want and drag the text box where you want it.  Once positioned correctly, type in what you want.  Once finished, press save and write a file name you want and make sure you put .jpg afterwards.  Now that you have made your photo perfect go to your blog and write your post; add the post pretty where you want it by pressing the Image button and then upload your Post Pretty.  Once done uploading press okay.  When your post is what you want just press post!  Doesn't that look nice?  Next, is the one and only... Shabby Buttons!  Like always, first choose the Shabby Button that you want; then copy the code beside it.  If you don't know how to copy just highlight the information by clicking your mouse and dragging it across the thing you want to copy and right click, press copy.  Now go back to your blog and go to Design and then Layout; in Layout choose Add a Gadget.  Scroll down until you find the button that says HTML, press it.  Paste your code in the box given by right clicking and pressing paste.  Press Okay.  Now when you go to your page you will see your button!  Yay, now it's time for... Shabby Blinkies!  Go back to where all the stuff is on the shabby website and press Shabby Blinkies; find the blinky you want and copy the HTML code using the above steps.  Go back to your blog and go to Design an then Layout.  In Layout press the Add a Gadget button and scroll down until you find the button that says HTML, press that button.  In the box paste your code using above steps, press okay.  You now have a blinky!   Drum- roll please, it's now time for * Drum-roll*... Sidebar Tag Sets!  Go back to the page with all the fancy stuff on the shabby website and press Sidebar Tag Sets.  Choose your favorite set and download it using the button underneath the set; when downloaded each tag will be given its own file.  Go to Design on your blog and then on the left hand side choose Layout.  In Layout press Add a Gadget; scroll down until you find Image, press Image.  A button will say Open press it and find the file your shabby tags went in; right click the file and press Open.  Choose one tag and press Okay.  Repeat this step for all the tags you want; once you have all your tags pulled onto your blog move them into the appropriate spots by dragging them.  Once finished people will know where to find what they're looking for!  That's all I have time for for now, bye!

A great place to get amazing blog items is at http://shabbyblogs.com/.  Once there you can click the designs tab to see all the wonderful things they have.  If you want cute ways to post photos maybe because you have a family photo sharing blog, I would recommend going to their blog http://shabbyblogsblog.blogspot.com/.  They seem to post free, cute things about 2- 3 times every week, but for the month of January (as it seems) , they haven't blogged:(.  When at their main website when you go to designs and then backgrounds you will find over 300 backgrounds!  *Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap!*  When back in designs you will find shabby headers; when in there you find 51 headers.  I recommend staying away from headers due to the fact that these make it hard to get  the title of your blog centered on the header where you want it.  Next, once your back in designs again you will find Post Pretties go in there for cute little things that go along with your posts.  You have 11 Post Pretties to choose from.  Back in designs we find ourselves going into Shabby Buttons (all these cute names!) ; these you would put on the side bar on your blog.  Out of these 47 buttons I think the welcome buttons are one of my favorites.  Now back into the designs section, we walk into Shabby Blinkies; blinkies are like little pictures that move or change.  There are 16 blinkies and they are all absolutely adorable!  Now here we are back in designs and now we go into Side Bar Tag Sets (where's all the cute names!!:P).  You will find 5 sets of tags of all styles.  Back in the same designs... now we go into Post Dividers (I'm going to have to give them some more cute name suggestions...).  There are 16 Post Dividers and I chose the create one (hmmmm... I wonder why?).  Sadly I haven't used it yet, but I surely will!  Now we find ourselves back in our same old, same old place and go into Custom Designs, but what's this!  It'll be open soon?!  Gives us something to be waiting for!  Maybe this is why they haven't posted in a while...   Now maybe I've told you all of this and you're like this sounds great and all, but how do I put all this in?  I'll tell you!  How about that?  First things first, backgrounds!  To add a background to your blog you will find the background you like and press the Get the Code button for that background (the button will be underneath the background.).  A pop- up should come up bearing a code in a box, copy the code.  Once you have the code go over to your blog and go in layout; once there press Add a Gadget and go 11 down until you find HTML/ JavaScript press that.  It will ask for a title you do not have to put one there.  I've found that Blogger will still leave an extra space for the invisible HTML you put there, so your visitors will be able to see the name of it if you put it there.  The next thing it will want is content, in that box paste the code you copied.  Press save.  Now when you go back to look at your blog your new background will be there!  Sadly I have to go now, but I'll finish this tutorial as soon as I can!  Bye!
